The food we eat has a direct and immediate effect on how we perform, whether it be our workout or any other task we face on a daily basis.

“Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat.”
 – CrossFit Journal, September 2002, The Garage Gym

Eat foods that “support exercise not body fat”. The idea is to eat foods that were intended for our bodies and avoid as much as possible foods that weren’t. Foods that are high-glycymic (a food’s propensity to elevate or spike insulin levels) should be avoided. Don’t know which foods are high on the glycemic index? At CFWD we believe in teaching you how to implement a balanced diet into YOUR  lifestyle. It is not restrictive , we do not tell what and what not to eat.

We run our Fat Loss Focus program every 6 weeks.

This program will start 1 week before the 5 week focus begins. During this initial week you will be required to purchase a Food Diary and record EVERYTHING you eat during the first 7 days. This recorded week will be the basis of your first consultation. Here we will review your current dietary habits and discuss how these sit against your personal goals. You will then be weighed, measured and have your body fat recorded.  This will be your starting point.

Over the next 5 weeks, you will meet weekly with either Scot or Lorna to review your food diary and feedback how the changes made have made you feel, and what gains have been made each week.

We have no magic pill to offer, there will be no new news, and everyone knows what is good and healthy to eat as well as what is not good. Keeping the Food Diary builds in awareness of what you eat and how much, this combined with meeting your Coaches each week to review your diary will help you get to where you want to be.

We recognise that you all work tremendously hard when you are in the gym, but I would suggest that if you ask some of the guys from the most recent Fat Loss program, they will agree that they have made more progress changing old habits, and being more aware of what and how much they eat, than slamming it in the gym every day.

It’s all about the choices you make, or refuse to make.
