So what keeps me showing up in my sixth year at Crossfit West Dublin is the people. There is such a good ethos established by Lorna and Scot and followed through by the coaching team (Geoff, Ciara, Brooke, Mary & Niamh) – the workouts are treated as fun and there’s lots of messing and banter, but all the members are treated seriously and with huge respect. It’s an inclusive environment, making Crossfit accessible to everyone. The members are a great bunch, friendly, supportive and, most importantly, good craic.
When I joined Crossfit West Dublin back in 2014, it did take some balls to keep getting back in there – I found the end of the previous class with crashing barbells, loud music, grunting! (and that’s being kind) intimidating. Looking at the weights people were lifting and thinking ‘I’d never be able to do that’ So I still can’t lift those weights but what changed is that now I will try and I accept that the only way you know you can’t do something is to give it a go and if you fail, well, you can’t do it that day and you move on but there’s no excuse not to try it again!
No matter how you’re feeling or what’s going on in your life you leave Crossfit WD on an absolute high, I can’t recommend it highly enough.
